Remodeling Strategies

This is the Mt. Helix home BEFORE. The entryway needed more presence.

And AFTER: We raised the ceiling heights to draw attention to the dramatic  entryway, enhanced the Spanish style with arches and  incorporated unique finishes throughout.

Set goals

Write a list of areas you want to change with your goals for each space (i.e., larger kitchen, more counter space, more storage, bigger closet, better lighting).

Prioritize

What will immediately improve your quality of life?

Research

Find design styles that you like in magazines, at home tours and on the Internet, and gather them in a notebook or file.

Budget

Be realistic! Understand that most remodels cost 10-20% above budget.

Hire a professional interior designer

Remodeling is a major investment in your home.  A designer has the experience and skills to walk you through the process and ensure that you get it right the first time.

Finally, get excited for a life changing experience!

As a highly skilled and experienced interior designer, I know what is worth spending a little more money on-and where you can save. I work with responsible vendors, contractors and installers to help make your remodel experience go smoothly and efficiently. I can help you avoid costly mistakes and, most importantly, work with you to create a beautiful, affordable space designed specifically to suit your lifestyle.

Did you know?

…that architects design from the outside in?
That’s why it’s essential that you have an interior designer look at the architect’s plans before you proceed.

…that contractors don’t bid jobs consistently?
When three contractors bid on a stairwell, for example, they will have three different visions. With the help of an interior designer, you can visualize the project, create a design that works with your space and style, and include project details in the bid.

…that you need to choose your exterior trim colors and bathtubs first?

…that you should always make one bathroom door handicapped accessible?
Being proactive about aging in place will make your home comfortable for years to come.

…that installing LED lights means you may never have to change a light bulb again?

…that hiring an interior designer saves you time and money, and gives you peace of mind?
Professional interior designers have extensive knowledge of products, materials and finishes as well as the expertise to plan, schedule and manage your project from start to finish.
